Are you considering a wood burning fireplace over a natural gas fireplace?  With the overall higher prices in natural gas, using a wood burning fireplace is a great way to additionaly heat your home. 

It is true that burning wood releases a significant amount of carbon dioxide by being burned, but no more than if the tree decomposed in the forest.  Our firewood is seasoned, which means stacking split wood during a summer's worth of sun and open air.  Seasoned wood is purchased by the cord which is 4x8x4 ft. of tightly stacked wood.

1 cord measures 4'x4'x8' and will stack 4' (tall) x 24' (long) x 16" (cut length)

WARNING: Creosote (a highly combustible substance that turns into a liquid form when wood exhaust cools) can accumulate in a chimney.  If ignited, the creosote can burn for days at
temperatures as high as 2,000 degrees and destroy your chimney.

Using seasoned wood in a fire with plenty of oxygen will reduce creosote from forming by absorbing the wood gasses while also sending more heat into the chimney to reduce flue gas cooling.
